Christmas Gift!!
So finally Christmas has arrive, and i just gave me a little present. I downloaded and installed openSuse 10.3 on my AMD64 Desktop.
I've always like the look and feel of openSuse's gnome configuration, and this wasn't the exception. I really liked the green background and specially the Gnome-main-menu applet (I still think that fedora needs something like that). But even though i liked it i couldn't stick to openSuse. Even though its a great distro, I'm not that patient for the usual YAST configuration, its just too slow and time consuming (which remember me the old Windows days). Another thing that really pissed me off was the installation of applications using YAST. Usually when i install apps on my box i don't stay in front of the screen just gazing at the progress bar showing me how much time's left to finish with the installation, which aparently, openSuse developers do, as the YAST software management doesn't let you do another thing while installing software (im talking about the gnome interface, not the KDE one)for it keeps showing me pop ups with the progress bar while looking for repos, and dependency problems, and then the installation. I think that those windows doesnt help a bit to the UI, but that's just me.
Anyway i liked openSuse and i still think its a grate distro which is making things in the right way, but i think ill stick to fedora for another while as it just suits me the way other distros doesn't. So after 24 hours of testing and checking that everything worked just fine on my recently installed openSuse box, I came back to my ol' fedora 8 distro. So now im posting from the fedora LiveCD as it is installing the OS right now.
I'm starting to feel a bit frustrated just thinking about the installation of all applications I used to have and the needed updates... which is making me think that i really need to download the DVD iso.
For now thats all. Merry Christmas to all and i hope everybody enjoy this night with their family and friends
